Every year Jandyra Walker carefully goes from store to store to find the best prices for a range of sensible items and special treats. She buys quantities of both. But what does she do with all this abundance?
Together with friends and parishioners, she assembles gift bags for our vulnerable neighbours for distribution on Christmas Day.
The year Jandyra's gift bags are going to be a whole community project. Here's how you can help:
1. Sponsor a gift bag. Jandyra manages to make a generous gift with about $20/bag. The donation will be added to your tax receipt from the church.
2. Help assemble the bags. The plan is to put the bags together on November 30th, either after coffee hour or after Transforming Questions, depending on the volunteers.
All things being equal, the plan is for Jandyra to go out on Christmas Day with Ann's help to find our neighbours who spend more time on the street than in a safe and comfortable place. Our hope is that the gift bags are both useful and a treat, and above all a sign of love and encouragement.
